This all makes it hard enough to survive without the other players lurking in the game area, actively trying to help your hunger in finishing you off! No matter how skilfully you craft, shelter and weapons degrade over time, and your hunger monitor drops steadily. It can be hard for a beginner to get through the first vital stages after spawning, because not only it is the usual PvE that you might expect from a survival game, it is simultaneously PvP: so a naked newbie, armed only with a rock and a torch could easily come face to face with a full-armed militia-man who is just waiting for the perfect moment for a take-down!Īs mentioned above, you arrive in the area with the bare minimum to get you started, and your first few hours are spent frantically finding resources, crafting and building, all the while keeping an eye on your fragile health. If you want to play it, you’ll have to fork over some cash. In short, Rust is not a free-to-play game. It’s also unclear whether or not PS5 and Xbox Series X|S version of Rust are in the works. However, without definitive launch plans in sight, it’s unclear how much these console versions of the game will cost. PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions are planned, and those copies should work fine on current-generation platforms. Unfortunately, the game was delayed in late 2020, and is now looking at a vague 2021 release window. Rust is supposed to be coming to consoles, too. Even better, the game often goes on sale, or can be found discounted at places such as Humble Bundle.
However, the price for Rust is set at just $40. Modern games tend to launch around $60, or even higher for some current-generation releases. While Rust is definitely not free-to-play, it is at least a bit cheaper than most triple-A releases.
